Dedicated chess clocks are wonderful until one battery dies mid-tournament or a junior club cannot afford twelve units. A chess stopwatch supports side timing and training: measure how long a student thinks on a critical position, run blitz practice with elapsed visible beside the board, or back up a DGT when the display glitches. Classical lessons use stopwatch mode to discuss time management without the pressure of flag fall - start when they touch a piece, stop when they punch the clock on a real board, and the elapsed story opens coaching conversation. Blitz halls use a tablet stopwatch per board for informal events where FIDE certification is not the point but fairness still is.
How to use it
- Agree whose turn is being timed before the first move.
